A Border Patrol agent shot the school gunman
A Border Patrol tactical unit responded to a school shooting in San Juan, Texas, and shot dead the armed suspect — who was wearing a red shirt and jeans — after he engaged them in a gun battle, according to a source with the agency. The officer who fired at the suspect has been placed on administrative leave until an investigation is complete.
Local hospitals respond and call for blood donors
Uvalde Memorial Hospital was placed on lockdown shortly after 11:00 a.m. today, as they received 14 patients from the mass shooting at the community’s high school in nearby Sutherland Springs, hospital CEO Tom Nordwick confirmed to ABC News affiliate KSAT-TV in San Antonio. Two of those patients were children, who died shortly after arriving. The hospital requested blood donations, with Nordwick telling KSAT that “they’re going to need plasma and platelet donations.”
